About The Galleoneer-In-Chief
Karl Forkbeard is a graduate from a prestigious London Business School who has lived in the Philippines for 15 years. He founded what very well might have been the very first BTC mining farm in that country in early 2013, in partnership with a local factory owner.
He imported the very first ASICS into the country in 2014 and if you bought an ASIC in the Philippines before 2016, you might have been answering one of his classified ads, or pestering him interminably to sell you one on one of several forums He used to devote the endless spare time that one gets with chronic insomnia to mastering the theory and practice of the newborn cryptophere, reaching such a precocious level of competence that his colleagues quickly nicknamed him “Mr. Nosebleed”.
Forkbeard was thus an early cryptocurrency consultant in the Philippines. With clients ranging from individual investors, bored housewives, Portfolio Managers, trust fund babies & factory owners not knowing what to do with all their excess solar power. He certainly “did his bit” to help plant the seed of the embryonic Filipino cryptosphere.
Forkbeard diversified into DOGE mining in mid 2014, accumulating “a lot” which eventually became the
foundation of his rural getaway (Thanks Elon!), which is colloquially whispered of in hushed tones among the Galleoneer community as “The Mountain”, where he does occasionally go on sabbatical for a few days on those rare occasions he loses hope in the internet. Forkbeard is a firm believer in self-sufficiency and food security and is pleased to be producing regular crops to “do his bit” in helping to eliminate the need for food imports thereby liberating the Republic of the Philippines from the oppressive tyranny of bankster food-price speculators. The mountain also makes its abundant natural spring water resources available at no cost to some of his neighbors without a well, and he employs several locals.
He has also operated a very successful copyrighting business. He barely has time for it anymore but if you can’t write for shit and “like the cut of his jib” he can make your text sizzle for just 0.0000003 BTC per word. But only if you’re trying to sell something useful. Forkbeard spent years as a starving Graduate student having to spit out copy for some very scummy clients and he has earned the right to be choosy.
He has over 20 years experience in marketing (Affiliate marketing purchased his first holiday in cambodia) and used to run an SEO and social media marketing company based in Manila but those days were long before crypto happened and ended shortly after Google decided to “ruin” their SEO system and cost a lot of hardworking entrepreneurs and their employees their livelihoods (unless they went “full bot mode” and settled for margins that would make an electronic retailer blush) but hey I suppose Mr. Page & co figured that adding to the stock of human misery was a small price to pay in order to shoehorn the plebs into dumping their hard-earned cash into the black hole that is adwords. Guess they failed at “Don’t be evil” long ago didn’t they?.
His other businesses include several retail and property ventures in which his waifu’s level headedness is invaluable. Thank you waifu. Everybody needs a waifu. He probably doesn’t deserve such a good waifu but then again Forkbeard never has been able to make much sense out of the improbable things that have happened to him.
Forkbeard is , believe it or not, a practicing Christian and family man with several children. He is a dog person but tolerates a small army of cats since waifu brought home a pregnant stray they she “just won’t get around to spaying”. However, there are so few rodents left on “The Mountain” now that he has a genuine fear that some of the kitties on the outskirts of his domain might resort to cannibalism or, worse, resort to hunting some of the endangered avian wildlife there. He is accepting DM’s if you want to adopt a cat in the Manila area. Please. Take them away. He can’t hear himself think sometimes, and they just won’t stay off his vinyl collection. Because real men do analogue.
He is well-traveled and has seen 5 wonders of the world, spent a summer in Australia, visited Japan, cleared landmines in Cambodia, attended 3 world cup games and has seen Rome, Constantinople, Moscow, & Bombay. Tokyo and Shanghai remain on his bucket list.
